This just in from one of our faculty, celebrating the commitment of one of our staffers. Don't you just LOVE Stephens? (I do....)
Dr. Lynch,
Every day when I scamper up the four flights of stairs to my office in Walter Hall, I wonder if I will be greeted by Eugene. He is our custodian.
I ask him, "How are you today?" and he always responds, "Better than good." I always wonder how this can be the case when the man works three jobs. But I do believe he is telling the truth. Sometimes he sings while he works, and it is very pleasant to hear is voice echoing warmly through the halls up there. Because of him, we work in a sparkling clean building.
When I finish my office hours and head to class, I feel as though I have been given a pep talk about work ethic. Selfishly, I hope whoever makes decisions about custodial help never moves Eugene from Walter Hall. Although, I suppose in keeping with the Christmas spirit I should be more generous about sharing my treasures.
A Stephens faculty member
Thank you, Eugene. You are a treasure.
