It's sort of like that these days: I wish there were six of me (well, maybe five) so I could be all over campus all at once.
Instead, I have to choose which of our amazing events I'm going to attend: It was Reunion on campus this past weekend, an exceptional array of special dinners and programs and teas and presentations that brought together some of the most inspiring women I've ever had the good fortune to meet. They laughed, they hugged, they shared wonderful memories of their time here at Stephens -- and they were so kind and welcoming to the college's new president.
It was a heartwarming reminder of how deep and committed our community truly is.
It was also the weekend of the Fashion Show.
No matter how many times people told me it was going to be amazing, I wasn't going to believe it, it was such a high point of the year on campus -- I still didn't expect just how amazing it turned out to be.
The program included nearly 100 garments, all of them designed and produced by our students (no pictures on Facebook yet? Is that possible? Can someone please please please friend me so I can snag some there and post them here?) It was stunning. No other word for it. Stunning. Truly.
And today was our honor's convocation, a celebration of Stephens as a community of teaching and learning. Students, faculty and staff received awards in recognition of their academic performance, leadership, and contributions to our community.
And (very cool), I got to announce the names of this year's Ten Ideals. They came slinking into the theatre, dressed as Ninjas (and yes, some of them were wrapped up in a Chinese dragon costume), and pulled off their masks, one by one, as I called their names. It was so much funI
In case you missed this special event, here are the names of the folks who were recognized today; congratulations to them all! We are so proud that you are a part of Stephens!
And last (tonight) but certainly not least, I attended the Athletics Honors Dessert, where coaches and teammates celebrated that special bond -- and all of those magic moments -- they have shared over the past year. It was an inspiring and heartwarming program, all leading to a single important conclusion:
We're a community here at Stephens. Each of us is different, each of us brings something special and unique to the whole. And we have so much to celebrate. Not just today, but every day.
It's just that today was ALL ABOUT that celebration.
My heartfelt congratulations to you all.
