Everybody says that beauty rests in the eye of the beholder.
So behold this: A group of our amazing Stephens women gathered together last spring to celebrate and create a sense of community among our African-American students, and to act as a liaison between the college's Black community and the administration (that would be me, as well as others).
"We expect each woman to build a concept of self as an individual and to help create a positive Black image or identity on campus," the group's brochure says. "The purpose of this union is to perpetuate diversity and community to the students of Stephens College through community service and understanding."
This week, BEAUTIFUL announced the recipients of its first (annual) B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L awards, designed to recognize the ideal qualities and leadership of a group of our very special students.
